Publication date:             September 2023

Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Wimborne Nursing Agency t/a WNA Healthcare is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline Year: 2021/22
Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.
This is the first reporting period - Baseline July 2021- June 2022.

Baseline year emissions: These figures relate to the last academic year based on available information. We have one office and the carbon generating activities include:

Business Administration: Using Electricity and gas for office equipment and climate control. Values have been recorded using data from utility bills.

Emissions reduction targets

This is the company's second year carbon footprint and already there is a reduction from 12 tCO2e to 11.80 tCO2e. The chart below shows the company is on target to achieving a year-on-year reduction. In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next four years to 10 tCO2e by 2027. This is a reduction of 16.66% and to reach 0 by 2050.

Progress against these targets will be mapped and shown over time as we receive more data for analysis.

Carbon Reduction Projects

Below shows a summary of completed, current and future projects to help us reach Net Zero by 2050:

Completed Carbon Reduction projects include:

  • In 2020, as part of the Low Carbon Dorset Scheme we played our part to reduce our Carbon Footprint by upgrading to efficient, ;low powered and long-lasting LEDs. The project was part funded by Low Carbon Dorset as part of the European Regional Development fund.

  • We have gone virtually paperless by introducing more online features like application forms and increasing the server space to allow for digital storage rather than paper-based system.

  • Employees are encouraged to recycle and use the blue bin so only a nominal amount of waste is going through the black bins.

  • Upgraded a very old 30-year-old office boiler to a A-rated and new Gas Boiler

  • Invested in a Modern App so workers can sign-off their digital timesheets therefore replacing the need to paper-based timesheets

Current schemes we have put in place include the following:

  • Introduction of the WFH Scheme Work from Home Scheme to allow employees to work two to three days at home.

  • We recently increased our water delivery from 3 bottles to 5 bottles per collection to reduce the amount of deliveries.

  • Video conferencing to reduce office visits and improved IT equipment

  • Cycle to work scheme

  • Car sharing Scheme

  • Recruiting officer workers that live close to the office

  • Automated system for online invoices for Clients

  • Paperless payslips emailed weekly

  • Toners to be returned to suppliers for recycling

Future schemes we will be looking to introduce are:

  • Moving to Cloud services to reduce energy consumption with less equipment on premises

  • Looking at a green electric tariff

  • Electric company cars
