Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Wimborne Nursing Agency t/a WNA Healthcare is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.
We will be completing the following years reporting once we have all the academic data for the full years ahead.

Emissions reduction targets
This is the companys third year of Carbon Footprint reporting and already there is a reduction from 12 tCO2e to 10.35 tCO2e. The chart below shows the company is ahead of schedule and achieving a year-on-year reduction. In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.
Our new aim is to get below 10 tCO2e within 12 months and 8 tCO2e within the next 4 years. This would represent a decrease of 33.33% within 8 years and on target to reach 0 by 2050.
Progress against these targets will be mapped and shown over time as we receive more data for analysis.
Carbon Reduction Projects
Below shows a summary of completed, current and future projects to help us reach Net Zero by 2050:
Completed Carbon Reduction projects include:
- In 2020, as part of the Low Carbon Dorset Scheme we played our part to reduce our Carbon Footprint by upgrading to efficient; low powered and long-lasting LEDs. The project was part funded by Low Carbon Dorset as part of the European Regional Development fund.
- We have gone virtually paperless by introducing more online features like application forms and increasing the server space to allow for digital storage rather than paper-based system.
- Employees are encouraged to recycle and use the blue bin so only a nominal amount of waste is going through the black waste bins.
- Upgraded a very old 30-year-old office boiler to a A-rated Gas Boiler and updated to a modern thermostat also.
- Invested in a Modern App so workers can sign-off their digital timesheets therefore replacing the need to paper-based timesheets.
- Getting rid of the Bottled water facility and using a mains-fed filter water dispenser. This also eradicated the need for single-use plastic cups.
- Sealing Windows, filling in cracks and servicing all the glazing in the office.
Current schemes we have put in place include the following:
- Introduction of the WFH Scheme Work from Home Scheme to allow employees to work two to three days at home.
- Video conferencing to reduce office visits and improved IT equipment.
- Cycle to work scheme.
- Car sharing Scheme.
- Recruiting officer workers that live close to the office.
- Automated system for online invoices for Clients.
- Paperless payslips emailed weekly.
- Reducing minimal orders and ordering less frequently but with a higher order price.
- Toners to be returned to suppliers for recycling.
- Encouraging staff to bring in food to save on takeaway delivery and food vans.
- Buying second-hand IT equipment to reduce waste and future production
- Moving to a Green Energy Tariff for Gas & Electric
- Electric Car (Company)
Future schemes we will be looking to introduce are:
- Moving to Cloud services to reduce energy consumption with less equipment on premises
- Encouraging Electric car purchases for Employees
