It has been a year now since the Disclosure and Barring Service rolled out the DBS Update Service.
costs £13 a year and can be automatically renewed or within 30 days of it expiring. Not only is it far cheaper and far less hassle, it also allows portability, if you were to join other companies.For those who are about to do a new DBS, you now have 19 days rather than 14 from the time your DBS arrives, to join the Update Service. From 1st July 2014, the Identification Checking process changed to accept EU driving licenses for Group 1 documents. Also applicants who cannot provide documents, can now have their fingerprints taken in line with current procedure at a local police station.
